JULY 11

Efimia

Euphemia · Efi · Evfimia · Foula

From the Greek for 'well-spoken' or 'of good repute'. Saint Euphemia the Great Martyr suffered for her faith in Chalcedon, and centuries later her relics miraculously confirmed the Council of Chalcedon's definition of faith — the wonder commemorated on July 11, while her martyrdom is honoured on September 16.
