Tsambika

A name unique to Rhodes, given in honour of Panagia Tsambika — the local name for the Virgin Mary on the island, derived from 'tsamba' meaning spark. Children born after a mother's pilgrimage and prayer at the miraculous monastery are traditionally named Tsambika or Tsambikos.
