Ónoma is a Greek nameday calendar. It helps you find whose nameday it is, look up when a name is celebrated, and keep track of the namedays of people you care about.
This policy explains, in plain terms, what happens to your information when you use the app. The short version: Ónoma runs no servers of its own, has no user accounts, and does not send your data to us or to anyone else. Almost everything below is a consequence of that one design decision.
Everything you add to Ónoma is stored locally on your device. There is no backend, no remote database, and no account to sign into. The app keeps three things on your device:
That is the complete list. Ónoma does not store phone numbers, email addresses, postal addresses, or photos.
If you choose to import from your address book, Ónoma reads only the first and last names of your contacts. It does not read phone numbers, emails, photos, or any other field.
Those names are matched against the app's built-in Greek nameday dataset entirely on your device, and shown to you in a review list. Only the people you decide to keep are saved. Names you don't keep are never stored. At no point is any of this information transmitted anywhere, saved outside the app, or logged.
You can decline contacts access, or revoke it later in iOS Settings, and still use every other part of the app by adding people manually.
Ónoma's nameday reminders are local notifications. They are scheduled and generated on your device. Ónoma does not register for push notifications, does not use a push server, and does not create or transmit any push token. If reminders are enabled, a small background task periodically re-runs the on-device scheduler so upcoming namedays stay current — this task makes no network connections.
On the App Store, Ónoma's privacy label is Data Not Collected
If you use iCloud Backup (or transfer directly to a new iPhone), the information Ónoma stores on your device — the people you've saved, your reminder settings, and your onboarding record — is included in your own device backup, the same way most apps' data is. This lets your Ónoma list restore automatically when you set up a new device, without any account.
This backup is part of your Apple account. It is encrypted, controlled entirely by you, and governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. Ónoma has no access to it — the app operates no servers and cannot see your backups. You can manage or turn off this backup at any time in iOS Settings under your Apple Account → iCloud, including excluding Ónoma specifically.
You are in control of the information Ónoma keeps:
One honest note about backups: if you delete someone and later restore an older iCloud backup that was made while they were still saved, that restore can bring the earlier list back. This is how iOS backups work generally, not something specific to Ónoma. You can manage your backups in iOS Settings.
Ónoma is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect information from anyone. Because the app collects no data at all, it does not gather personal information from children or from any other user.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a revised date above. Because Ónoma has no way to contact you, the current version posted here always governs your use of the app.
